Challenges: Justiceworx Wk 5, Day 3

Today was a pretty good day at Enable. My work group is really coming together, which is sweet. Everyone is talking and forming relationships with the consumers as well as each other. I had the opportunity to play guitar for one of the consumers, and he really enjoyed it. Then in the afternoon we spoke with the consumers and were able to build some deeper bonds with them. It's great to see my work group flourishing like this. My family group seemed to open up a bit more today, too. We had a great conversation about some off-topic stuff. It was a great way for people to open up a bit more and really begin to feel comfortable with each other. It's a great part of the week when this begins to happen.

This week we've faced a few different challenges as a staff. The biggest one is that during the mornings and night duty we do end up being understaffed because we had one of our volunteers drop on us (for a very good reason, my thoughts and prayers are with her right now). This provides a problem because we must keep in mind our own limitations physically and mentally sometimes. We've also had a few other logistical challenges in terms of time management things, but those are always present at Justiceworx. We try to run on schedule as best we can, but most of the time we run over (which, in actuality, isn't a bad thing all the time).

Through all the challenges we as a staff become stronger and build bonds with one another that strengthen the week's overall power for the kids. I hope we can overcome these by the end of th week and finish off with a bang. Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day.
